About Us

Our philosophy

At Viva Dance Co., dance is considered more than movement; it’s a powerful tool for personal growth and empowerment.  This philosophy is rooted in the belief that through dance, we can help children build confidence and character they will utilize to find success well beyond the time spent in our classrooms.  Our program has been designed to develop physical, mental, and social skills for every student that walks through our door, all ages and abilities.  Physically, dance enhances coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, and posture.  Mentally, it improves focus, discipline, and cognitive abilities.  Socially, we foster an environment centered on developing valuable teamwork skills, building lasting friendships, and creating a treasury of cherished memories that will stay with them for years to come.  Give your child a gift that will last a lifetime, the gift of DANCE!

FAQs

Choosing a dance studio for your child involves navigating a series of decisions and understanding various policies. Here's a breakdown of commonly asked questions and essential information to consider:

    • What styles of dance do you offer?
VDC offers a wide variety of dance styles including tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, acro tumbling, contemporary, and hula.

    • What ages and skill levels do you cater to?
We offer classes for children ages 18 months to 18 years of age, from beginner to pre-professional skill levels.

    • Do you offer trial classes or assessments?
Yes!  We are happy to offer your child a free trial class upon request as part of our enrollment process.  Trial classes are typically offered September-May.

    • How long is each class and how frequently do they meet?
Class length and frequency vary depending on age and level, ranging from 30-minute sessions for preschoolers to longer, more frequent classes for advanced dancers.

    • What is the studio's yearly schedule?
We run a school year schedule, September-May where students have the opportunity to participate in two full theater recital productions (mid-December and late May/early June).  During the summer months we offer short camp sessions to accommodate busy schedules and travel.  Our summer session always concludes with a community performance at the Monroe County Fair in early August.

    • What is the commitment level (recreational, pre-professional, or competitive)?
We offer 3 Levels Of Commitment- Recreational/Studio Classes, Competitive, and Pre-Professional.

Most of our students at Viva participate in our recreational/studio classes.  This program offers the flexibility to attend a single class, once a week or enhance your experience by stacking multiple classes on one night or booking multiple nights for more studio class time.  Our recreational classes are designed to offer students the opportunity to explore different styles of dance without an extensive time or financial commitment.  These students will have the opportunity to participate in two professional stage recitals, one in mid-December and one in late May/early June.

Viva does offer competitive team opportunities for experienced dancers ages 4-18.  Our teams are formed by an audition process that takes place in July we place dancers for the upcoming season, running August/September-May/June.  Please visit our Competitive Dance page for more information.

    • Where can I find information about tuition and fees?
Our current schedule will always clearly outline tuition rates, payment schedules, registration fees, and any other associated costs.

    • Are there discounts for multiple children or classes?
We currently offer a multiple class discount of $5 off/month for additional classes beyond your child’s first class.  This is calculated per child, not by family.

    • What are the costs associated with performances or competitions?
Our Studio Class students are all invited and encouraged to participate in both our Winter and Spring Recital performances.  Costumes for our Winter Recital typically average $40-$60 per class and are billed with November tuition draw.  Costumes for our Spring Recital are a bit more elaborate and average $60-$90 per class.  Spring costume fees are billed with February tuition.  Only our DANCE classes perform at the theater recital shows.  We host an in-studio showcase for our acro tumbling students which does not require costumes or ticket purchase to attend.

Viva does support a Booster Club which offers fundraising opportunities for those who choose to participate to offset out of pocket cost.  There is a $20 annual fee to participate to help cover admin cost associated with running this program.

    • What is the studio's facility like?
Viva is proud to offer a beautiful 8,000 square foot facility complete with 4 large classrooms, a spacious lobby and reception area, and ample parking in a well-lit lot for the safety of our students and their families.

    • What is the studio's communication style?
Our families will enroll online via Studio Pro, a dance studio specific software designed to help keep your experience easy to manage.  This program will handle registration, billing, email/text communication, and host practice videos for your child’s recital routine(s).  We encourage you to download the Studio Pro App, available free of charge in your Apple or Google App Store.  The app gives you quick, easy access to all things Viva. We also utilize both Facebook and Instagram to post important reminders, upcoming events, highlights, and fun photos/videos of our students working hard and having fun in their classes.

    • Are parents allowed to observe classes?
Our Tot and Pre-K Classes are shown live on a large television screen in our lobby. We do ask that families have only one adult chaperoning these dancers to class so we are able to keep the lobby from surpassing capacity limits and allowing the receptionist the ability to continue doing business during class time.

    • What is the studio's dress code and grooming policy?
Our dress code is included in each class description you will see during the online enrollment process.  Shoes needed are also listed on our current schedule in addition to being listed in the class description in Studio Pro.

    • What is the attendance policy and are makeup classes offered?
While unforeseen circumstances may arise, the current studio policy does not allow make-up classes.  Consistent attendance is encouraged to maximize the value of your tuition payment and your child’s overall studio experience.
